AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED “AN ORDINANCE TO FIX SALARIES, WAGES, AND COMPENSATION OF
CERTAIN OFFICIALS, OFFICERS, AND EMPLOYEES OF THE BOROUGH OF NORWOOD, COUNT=
Y OF
BERGEN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY” TO PROVIDE FOR AND DETERMINE THE RATE AND
METHOD OF COMPENSATION FOR THE CHIEF OF POLICE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2006
the purpose of this
ordinance is to fix the salary of the Chief of Police retroactive to Januar=
y 1,
2006, for persons appointed before January 1, 2006.

BE IT
ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORWOOD, COUNTY OF BERG=
EN
COUNTY, STATE OF NEW JERSEY, as follows:
SECTION 1: The foll=
owing
offices and employee positions of the Borough of Norwood shall be paid in
biweekly installments, and fixed in the amounts set opposite their respecti=
ve

SECTION 2. In addition to salary, referred to
herein, all full time employees shall be entitled to longevity payments as =

The salaries and compensation rates set forth herein shall be
retroactive to &nbs=

1, 2006.
SECTION 4. The manner of payment shall be on a
bi-weekly basis.

The Borough will provide the employee with the medical and other
benefits that are available to all Borough employees who are not members of
collective negotiations units, and a vision protection plan consisting of
payment up to a maximum of $150.00 per year for eye examinations, protectiv=
e,
and/or corrective eyewear for the covered employee only.
SECTION 6. Unless otherwise provided herein, all salaries, wages and
compensation set forth in the ordinance to which this ordinance is an
amendment, shall remain in force and effect unless specifically changed by =
this
Ordinance.
SECTION 7. Holidays: Paid Holidays shall be

SECTION 8. Overtime: The Chief of Police will=
not
be entitled to receive overtime compensation for services provided to the
Borough as the Chief of Police.
SECTION 9. Personal Days: The Chief of Police shall be entit=
led to
three (3) paid personal days in each calendar year, which shall not accumul=
ate
from year-to-year if not taken in any calendar year.
SECTION 10. Vacation Pay: The Chief of Police shall be entitl=
ed to
thirty (30) vacation days in each calendar year, which shall not accumulate
from year-to-year if not taken in any calendar year.

11. Sick Days: The Chief of Police shall be entit=
led to
12 paid sick days in each calendar year. All unused sick time shall be paid=
at
the daily rate of pay for the year in which the days are earned and not use=
d. No unused sick time may be accumul=
ated
from year–to-year.=

All ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent herewith are hereby
repealed &nbs=
p; to
the extent of any inconsistency.
SECTION 13:&n=
bsp;
The provisions of this ordinance are severable. If any part of this ordinance
is declared to be unconstitutional or invalid by any court or state agency =
of &=
nbsp; competent
jurisdiction, the remaining parts of this ordinance will remain in full for=
ce
and effect.
SECTION 14:&n=
bsp;
This ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication as req=
uired
=
by
law, except that any portion of the ordinance that provides an increase in =
the
salaries, &nb=
sp; wages,
or compensation of elected officials or managerial, executive, or confident=
ial employees shall become
operative 20 days after publication, as per N.J.S.A. 40A:9-165.
